Abstract

In this study, we presented the meaning of the comprehensive and integrated management of transboundary groundwater and its impact on achieving sustainable development for those countries involved in the transboundary aquifers, by studying the meaning of comprehensive management of transboundary groundwater, and its impact on achieving sustainable development for those countries.


   We also discussed the principles underlying the management of transboundary water resources. Among these principles is the Dublin Principles. And also, the joint international committees that manage the shared water resources. We also dealt with the controls necessary to achieve integrated management of transboundary groundwater.


In this study, we also referred to the cases of its application to manage transboundary aquifers, such as the common aquifer in the northwestern desert, which is shared by Libya, Algeria and Tunisia.


This study showed that achieving cooperation between the countries participating in these basins or aquifers through comprehensive or integrated management will lead to achieving sustainable development for those parties.


Comprehensive management of transboundary groundwater has many positive effects represented in improving economic integration between those countries, and thus contributes directly or indirectly to international trade, economic development, food security, political security, poverty alleviation, and integration. regional.
